Art Gallery Week – Project 3

Happy Stampin’ Wednesday!

Calling all Beginner’s! Here’s the card for you this week! I will show you how to make this card step-by-step and how to hide a mistake!

Once again I used the Mother’s Day sentiment from an old Paper Pumpkin kit because I really need to get my MD cards done! This would make three so far and I need to make a heck of a lot more, LOL. What is nice, is that this card is quick to make, so maybe I’ll create several in different colors.

Let’s start out with a Basic White card front that measures 4″x5-1/4″. Using the base blossom stamp and stamp the image using Daffodil Delight.

Next, take the highlight stamp and stamp the image in Mango Melody.

Then, stamp the stem in Old Olive.

Next, stamp the sentiment right on the card front. Notice how mine is not an even color AND I stamped it crooked. This is what happens when I don’t use my Stamparatus! But, do not fret! This CAN be fixed 🙂

The number one trick of card-makers is to COVER IT UP! I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Basic White and then cut it our using the larger rectangle from the coordinating dies set, Floral Gallery Dies. Then, I matted the sentiment to make it pop a bit, using an Old Olive scrap measuring 2-3/4″x1/2″. Now, you will notice that I am having a slanted day, as this is even slanted a bit! Ugh!

Oh well, at least they will know it was handmade!

Next, I wrapped a 6″ length of Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon around the front and taped it on the back side. I do this method (for those who are wondering) to make sure the ribbon is tight on the front side. I could just wrap the ribbon around the card and tie it in the front, but sometimes it is not as tight as I’d like it.

Next, I take a 4″ length, slide it under the taped ribbon and tie in a simple shoelace knot.

Trim the edges to desired length.

Mount your card front on an Old Olive card base that measures 8-1/2″x5-1/2″ and is scored at folded at 4-1/4″.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Make sure to subscribe to Let It Snow Stamping so you never miss another blog post. Every week I pick a stamp set and make one project (possibly two) every weekday. As an added bonus I also make videos for new techniques. The techniques can also be found under the Technique Corner tab.
