Scrapbooking Ta-da moment!

Have you ever had a Ta-Da moments and think, why didn’t I think of this before?? Today I was scrapbooking and having a hard time finding the embellishments I needed, story of my life! I am a crafter that has way too many embellishments and paper, and I know I am not alone!

Now, just so you know, I have been scrapbooking for over 30 years! In the past I have used Ziploc baggies to hold bulky embellishments and categorized them by theme. Those baggies would get organized into crates in alphabetical order so that I could find the theme I was looking for and pull it out when needed for a layout. It made it easy to pack for crops as well. The only issue I had was when I tried to pack in 12″ items, like page borders. Those ended up in a zippered binder, but the problem was remembering that I had them!

Recently, I went to Daiso, when it opened in our area, and found some cute storage boxes. While these are great, can you tell what I have in here? Me either. But, for now, these will stay like this until I figure something else out for the embellishments that are in here.

At a recent crop, I had my new embellishments in a 12×12 box alongside my paper and pictures. Well, that didn’t work out so well because it got so full that I could not close it properly! So, at the crop I bought one of these cool bags. Again, can you tell what I have? Yup, me either!

Then today, while I was attempting to find what I needed for a new dog layout (we have two 5 month old puppies, AGAIN!) I was getting frustrated. So, I thought, why not use this old layout case that is just sitting here empty??

I decided to use the pages to hold my dog embellishments! Duh!! I had used this method before to hold swap items that I collected, back in the day, when paper dolls and paper piecings were popular.

Each item is in a plastic sleeve that it came in or that I had in my stash. I taped the top to cheap white cardstock and placed it in the page protector.

Now I can just flip through the pages and clearly see what I have for dog layouts.

I am not sure I will do this for every theme I have embellishments for, but it is a start, until my binder gets full! My hope is that it will help me be a little more productive at the next crop I attend. Plus, I won’t have to pack so many of my Daiso boxes!
