Embrace Each Moment Week – Project #2

Happy Tuesday! I love that the sun is so bright and the sky so blue! I can’t wait for it to get warmer than the current 37 degrees though.

Yesterday I was sure that I would not be able to come up with another good idea for this set because I loved yesterday’s card so much. So glad I was wrong! Tomorrow’s project…..that’s another matter for another day!

How can you not have a card with a couple hugging and not have hearts?? Today I pulled out and dusted off my Detailed Hearts Die. I have not used it much because I have boys and I also mail cards to people I do not know. Most of them are people who live alone and are having a rough time during COVID because of visitation restrictions, and for me it would be too weird to send a card with so many hearts on it to a stranger. But after using it today, I will have to challenge myself to find a way for it to be OK to send lovie hearts to strangers!

This card is a top fold card, meaning that the card opens upward instead of opening to the left. To be honest, the only reason it was a top fold card is because I already had a cut piece of Rococo Rose in my cardstock folder. Why cut another when I can just change the fold location? The card base measures 4-1/4″x11″, scored at 5-1/2″.

The card front measuring 4″x5-1/4″ was embossed using the Brick and Mortar 3D Embossing Folder.

After gluing those down, I cut a piece of Basic White using the Detailed Hearts Die. I did this three more times using Rococo Rose, Gray Granite, and Blushing Bride just to get the little heart scraps it produced. Now I have three more Detailed Hearts die cuts to use on other cards! I set those aside until later.

Next I cut a scrap piece of Basic White to measure 2-1/2″x4″ and stamped my hugging couple on it using Gray Granite.

Now, the fun part! I took the heart confetti (the scraps that came from the Detailed Heart Die) and glued some of them around the edge of the couple using Fine Tip Glue. While it dried, I added pressure to it by stacking a couple of my acrylic blocks on top. After that was all done and dry, I turned it upside down and taped the Detailed Hearts die cut to the back with Scotch tape. This is much easier than trying to glue down the intricate die cut with Fine Tip Glue! Once that was taped down, I added Tear & Tape Adhesive to the back of the couple only, so the adhesive would not show through the hearts. Then I centered it on my card front.

Next, I stamped my sentiment on another scrap of Basic White using Rococo Rose and punched it out using the heart punch from the Heart Punch Pack. Using a scrap piece of Rococo Rose, I cut out a scalloped heart (the second punch of the Heart Punch Pack). Before I glued the white heart to the scalloped heart, I highlighted the edges with Wink of Stella to add some sparkle. I also added sparkle to two of the heart confetti pieces and glued those on the sentiment heart.

To make this element the focal point, I popped it up using dimensionals. Don’t forget to add a little tidbit on the inside of the card as well!

This card could be used to tell your spouse how much you love them, for an anniversary, or even for a wedding or wedding shower. I think I will be using this one for one of my luggage cards for my hubby 🙂

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Make sure to subscribe to Let It Snow Stamping so you never miss another blog post. Every week I pick a stamp set and make one project (possibly two) every weekday. As an added bonus I also make videos for new techniques.
