A Good Man Week – Project 1

This week I am featuring one of my favorite masculine sets. This is such a sweet set for any Father’s Day, Birthday, or Just Because card you may need for the men in your life.

I started out with a Mossy Meadow card base that measures 8-1/2″x5-1/2″ and is scored at 4-1/4″ for a crisp fold.

Next, I cut a Mossy Meadow card front that measures 4″x5-1/4″.

To add a second color to the card front I used an embossing folder and a Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Pad.

First, I added color directly onto the front of the embossing folder.

Second, I carefully laid my card front on the inked side of the embossing folder.

Third, I ran it through the embossing machine as I normally do when I am embossing a paper.

This is how it should look when you remove it from your embossing folder. See the detail it captures with the ink is embedded in the grooves of the embossed paper. You can do this with any ink pad on any cardstock that you would normally emboss.

As a rule of thumb, I wash my folder right after I do this so I don’t stain my folders. I used running water and if the ink is stubborn, I also wash with a little dish soap, but typically that is not necessary if you do it right away.

Next, I added some Faux Suede Trim. As per my norm, I taped it on the back so that it is taut along the front of the card.

I stamped my image on a scrap of Very Vanilla, using Early Espresso, and cut it to the image’s size.

Using a blending brush, I blended on a layer of Crumb Cake, followed by a layer of Early Espresso to give the image a sort of vintage look.

Once I liked the distressed edges, I matted it with a piece of Mossy Meadow and mounted it onto my card front.

I did not take a photo of it, but I mounted the card front to the card base using dimensionals to make it pop up a bit.

Next, I took a 4″ piece of Faux Suede Trim and slid it under my taped piece to make a cheater bow.

Simply tie it once like a shoelace knot.

See how cool the added craft ink made the background look.

I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of Very Vanilla and punched it out using the Double Oval Punch. For the mat, I used Mossy Meadow and used the matting end of the Double Oval Punch. Then popped it up with dimensionals.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Make sure to subscribe to Let It Snow Stamping so you never miss another blog post. Every week I pick a stamp set and make one project (possibly two) every weekday. As an added bonus I also make videos for new techniques. The techniques can also be found under the Technique Corner tab.
