Black & White Gingham Ribbon

The Project

I wanted to showcase how this stamp set could be used for other types of cards other than holiday cards. Who doesn’t live a box full of puppy kisses? You can substitute the kitty or the hamster in this design as well to suit your needs.

Instructions

Begin by folding your card base at 4-1/2″ and burnishing it with a bone folder for a nice, crisp fold.

Adhere DSP to the card front.

Adhere white panel to the inside of the card. You may choose to stamp an image on the inside, but I use every available space on my cards to write, so I leave mine blank.

Cut green square diagonally. When I do this, I line up the corners on the cutting track. Then, I start cutting from the middle of the paper outward. First up, then down. This helps to keep the blade from bending your corners.

Score and fold Crumb Cake square.

Next, stamp puppy in Soft Suede ink and color with Blends. Begin with the Dark Blends on the stamped feathered areas of the puppy fur and center toes. Next, take the Light Blends and fill in the rest of the areas you want filled. I left the nose area white.

Cut out puppy with coordinating die cut.

Emboss Flirty Flamingo piece using the Painted Textures embossing folder.

Emboss white square with the Brick & Mortar embossing folder. Make sure to line up the square with the line on the folder to keep your bricks horizontal.

Adhere brick piece to the card front. I did mine a little above center.

Next, add Flirty Flamingo piece, Crumb Cake piece with flap on top, and one Granny Apple Green triangle to the card front as shown below.

Adhere puppy to the top of the Crumb Cake piece using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Make sure his little paws hang over the fold.

Stamp sentiment using Pool Party ink and mount it on Pool Party sentiment mat.

Adhere sentiment at an angle to the upper left area of the card front.

I did not like the plain look of my puppy box, so I took a small blending brush, I got from the dollar store, to add a bit of Crumb Cake ink to the edges of the box to make it pop a bit. I used a scrap of white cardstock to protect my other elements.

Lastly, add 3 matte dots as accents.
